Thing 2 Turns 1
Today Zane turns 1. It is official. He walks, eats solid food and laughs at my jokes. Today Zane is a man.
I wrote a bit about it over at DadBloggers.
There is more though.
Not only are we lucky enough to be raising a beautiful and happy little boy, but also to witness the development of something else, the friendship that exists between him and his older brother Atticus.
Atticus is 3 1/2 and is as smart and sweet as you could ever want a child to be. That's not to say he doesn't have a wild streak, but hell, how boring would it be if he didn't?
He and Zane have developed a kinship, well technically they were born into it, that can only be described as magical.
We are in a place in our lives where we unfortunately don't have a lot of interaction with other children. What we do have is a plethora of toys and the space to use them. We have imagination and humor. We have opportunity, and together the boys make the most of it.
It makes me proud as a parent to see the bond that is already firm between them. They gather strength from the presence of the other, and I am the stronger for it.
Happy Birthday Zane! Twenty more and I'll buy you a beer.
